5 Tips for saving some money after moving

TIP 1: CONNECT LOCALLY FOR SALES

Check out Angi, Nextdoor, and Yelp for current local sales and reviews on home services, shopping and entertainment.

TIP 2: DON'T TOSS JUNK MAIL

After you move you’ll most likely get a TON of “junk mail”. Sure it might be annoying but the “junk” usually contains offers for free or discounted products and services. Take a minute to sort through it and you might find big savings.

TIP 3: FIND FREE EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Check online for information on free and newcomer activities in your area. Many media outlets and community websites publish searchable calendars. Facebook and Nextdoor are perfect places to visit to discover free events and entertainment.

TIP 4: VISIT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY

Some libraries allow you to borrow framed art, which you can use for a couple of months on those bare walls in your new home. Many libraries have free events for adults, teens, and children, which is not only a great way for cost-effective activities, but can also help you meet people in your new community.

TIP 5: UNPACK YOUR KITCHEN

It’s tempting to leave your kitchen appliances and dishes packed so you can justify ordering pizza and going to restaurants. But those tabs add up fast! Get unpacked (or let your moving company do the unpacking for you) and get cooking.
